Intro
The Aiken Workbench architecture is extremely flexible and fully scalable, so it can be adapted to support IT refurbishing operations of any size.
The following diagram depicts the basic setup of the Aiken Workbench solution:
The Main Server is the core component of Aiken Workbench. When you first install the product, the Image Server component will also be installed on the same machine. In case your needs grow or change you will be able to add additional Image Servers for intensive imaging capabilities.
Aiken Workbench has been designed for the professional refurbishment of IT equipment in high volumes and should be run in a separated network environment. Sharing the same infrastructure with regular office servers, computers and applications may seriously affect their performance and, under some specific circumstances, may pose a risk of unintended data destruction.
For those reasons, the Main Server must be installed on a machine with two different LAN interfaces (2 wired or 1 wired+1 Wi-Fi). One wired interface will always be used to communicate with the machines that you will be auditing. The other wired (or Wi-Fi) interface will be used to connect to your company network, so your office users can access the auditing information using the Workbench Manager application. Access to the Internet from the server is also a requirement, and this is typically provided by the connection to your office network.
